Microscopic Evaluation of Different Sealant Materials

چکیده
Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare in vitro penetration and adaptation of light curing ormocer based fissure sealant and nonfilled low viscosity sealant material. Materials and Methods: Extracted human molars (n = 108) were randomly assigned to 2 groups. Admira Seal and Teethmate F1 were used as sealant materials in the study. Each tooth was sectioned using an Isomet cutter into 2 portions buccolingually, producing mesial and distal tooth halve. The penetration, adaptation and voids of 2 materials were evaluated according to fissure shape and depth at the stereolight microscope, and from each group 10 samples were examined under scanning electron microscope (SEM). Results: Under light microscope and SEM, ormocer based fissure sealant (Admira Seal) and nonfilled low viscosity sealant material (Teethmate F1) did not show significantly different statistical results when penetration and adaptation were compared (p>0.05).

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy of (Pro Seal) sealant in preventing enamel decalcification in-vivo and compare its effect with fluoride varnish and unfilled sealant using atomic force microscopy. MATERIALS AND METHODS Eight orthodontic patients who were candidates for extraction of all first premolars for orthodontic treatment were recruited to this study. ...
متن کاملEvaluation of microleakage of Ionoseal filling material as a fissure sealant agent
Introduction: Sealing pits and fissures was introduced as an approach to prevent occlusal caries for more than two decades. The aim of this study was to compare the microleakage of flow able resin reinforced glass ionomer (Ionoseal) with other materials used as fissure sealants. Methods: In this in vitro study, 50 premolar teeth of human free of any caries were selected. Fissurotomy was done...
متن کاملClinical performance of a glass ionomer sealant protected with two different resin-based agents over a 2-year follow-up period.
AIM To evaluate the effects of two different resin coating materials on the clinical performance of a conventional glass ionomer sealant. MATERIALS AND METHODS Permanent first mandibular molars of 60 children aged 6-9 years were sealed with Fuji VII. In each child, G-Coat Plus coating agent was applied to molars on one side and Heliobond coating agent to molars on the opposite side of the mou...
متن کاملEvaluation of a fluoride-containing sealant by SEM, microleakage, and fluoride release.
A fluoride-containing sealant (FluroShield) was evaluated in vitro and compared to a sealant without fluoride (Helio-Seal). Both materials were applied to the occlusal surface of extracted teeth and microscopically evaluated for their ability to penetrate pits and fissures. Additional specimens were subjected to dye immersion and evaluated for resistance to microleakage. Disc-shaped samples of ...

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare three different pit and fissure sealants with different composition to check their effectiveness for sealing ability and microleakage. MATERIALS & METHODS Total 120 therapeutically extracted premolars devoid of any caries, anomalies or morphogenic diversity were collected and distributed equally in three groups (40 in each). ...
